RED TIDE  –  symbolizing Death av well as Life:  A Faroese whale boat from Sandoy in the bay of Húsavik, colored red from the catch of a school of Pilot Whales, offering each and one family on the island a free meal perhaps for once a week in the year to come, thus harvesting from nature as a part of ancient culture in this remote spot in the Atlantic.

The long-finned pilot whale (Globicephala melas) is one of the
two species of cetacean in the genus Globicephala. It belongs
to the oceanic dolphin family (Delphinidae), though its
behavior is closer to that of the larger whales.
